WHAT WE DO.
Mana Within are funded under the Māori Trades and Training Fund.
Our role is to address the difference between Māori and non- Māori outcomes in Tāmaki Makaurau.
Mana Within work with local community groups predominantly in West and South Auckland and their whanau.
Mana Within delivers a scholarship programme where we walk alongside Māori who want to progress in the building industry.
You might be:
- New to the building industry
- An existing apprentice
- A trade qualified person
- A site supervisor
- An employer who is either Māori or employs Māori.
OUR SERVICES.
Mana Within provides support and removes obstacles for our people by offering the following services:
- Preparation & transition into work.
- Links to employers.
- Access to free workshops & night-classes to help with your trade qualifications.
- Advocacy & guidance across employers, trainees & whanau.

We (Doug and Phil) created Mana Within to help people like ourselves.
We are Māori and Pasifika NZ trade qualified carpenters.
We’ve been the labourers, apprentices, tradesmen and are business owners.
We are industry assessors, tutors, and mentors who understand trade qualifications & the building industry.
We’ve benefited from the building industry and have also experienced some obstacles along the way.
We want to share these experiences & knowledge with other people to make their journey smoother.
